Meet One of Our Longest-Serving Staff
In this edition, we caught up with Mr. Ayoyinka Ajiwe, who has been with Digital Jewels since 2008 – the same year the company was founded!
Q: When did you join Digital Jewels Africa?
A: I joined in July 2008.
Q: Was it the same year the company started?
A: Yes.
Q: What kind of company was it at the time, and what drew you to it?
A: When I started, Digital Jewels was like a startup with great expectations. It felt like a pregnant woman, expecting to carry her child to full term with the expectation that the child cannot die. We were a small team with a mission to grow the business and make it succeed.
Q: What were your initial expectations when you joined, and how has it evolved over time?
A: I came from a bigger organization, and I was looking for guidance on how to make things work. The company has grown significantly since then, with a more structured approach and a bigger team.
Q: How have you seen the organization grow and change over the years?
A: We’ve expanded to other countries, grown our team to over 50 staff, and done many notable projects. We’ve also streamlined our processes and have a more structured approach.
Q: Are there any memorable projects or initiatives you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
A: One notable project was the Galaxy Backbone project we had several years ago. We worked hard to package the RFP, and it was a success. I’m also proud of our office moves and expansions.
Q: How do you think the organization’s culture has evolved?
A: The culture has changed, especially with the Gen Z workforce and post-COVID evolutions. We’re more flexible, and technology has played a big role in this shift.
Q: How have the organization’s values influenced its growth and decision-making?
A: Our values, like integrity, have guided us in our decisions. We prioritize professionalism and transparency.
Q: What message do you want to share with the team through this newsletter?
A: I want us to be committed to our work and to each other. Let’s prioritize communication, loyalty, and teamwork. Digital Jewels is a great place to work, and I’m proud to be part of it.
Q:A Catchphrase or last words for the Team
A: The first would be a Bible passage as we are rooted on the Word of God. “Rom. 8:37- Yet, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” The second would be a statement to everyone that “Digital Jewels Africa Ltd is a great place to work”
